All the products are made solely in maritime pine. This magnificent forest, unique in its homogeneity, is the biggest European planted forest. It sketches from the mouth of the Gironde to that of the Adour river, with more than 1 million hectares, with an annual supply of 2 million cubic metres of sawn wood : 30 to 40% are transformed into parquet flooring and panelling in some thirty plants, with an overall yearly production of approximately 20 million square mettres.
This cultivated forest id the symbol of ecology. The sylviculturist wood ownerrs (80% private persons) manage their forest in respecting the life cycle of the tree (around 50 years) and by replanting ti maintain the harmony of nature equilibrium.
Pine is a soft wood. Its main physical characteristics are as follows (NFB 51 002 standard):
- slightly veined wood ;
- density : semi-heavy (570/600 kg/m3) ;
- hardness : semi-hard.
Its properties provide parquet flooring in maritime pine wood with :
Long-lasting use : Resistance to the wear of time, intensive use, heel-marks, chemical agents (simple planing will give the parquet flooring an appearence of newness ; a slat can be changed without having to redo the room and it is practically unnoticeable). It keeps the same appearence for its entire lifetime.
Satisfactory comfort : it is flexible under foot, without any unpleasant impression of hardness ; it provides good soundproofing (by absorbing the noise of impacts, dropped objects, the echo of steps, etc...) and good thermal insulation.
A healthy atmosphere : hygienically speaking, it does not cause any allergies, does not retain dust, and therefore, does not constitute a breeding ground for germs. The product is ecologic.
A decorative appearence : the tint of flooring and panelling in pine brings a sober, yet warm and decorative touch, which matches all types of homes and furniture.
The slats are veined in graded tones and form a more varied surface than a uniform or geometric covering.
Moreover, maritime pine is ths only wood in a light shade, brightening rooms even more. All resinous woods are knotty except maritime pine, which comprises about 15% knot free wood.
